Boudoir photoshoots are becoming really popular.  What's the big deal?  Well, I won't bore you with the history of the word of boudoir.  We live in an era where we are all about self-beauty and confidence.  Boudoir photography, although done usually to be gifted to someone else, should be done for yourself.

The Ideal Client

Women are typically the cliental of boudoir photography.  However, I did come across this stunning boudoir session by Masika May Photography proving that it is not just a women's game.

The Misconception

Boudoir photography is not limited to photography in your birthday suit or skimpy lingerie.  Talented boudoir photographers snap photos of women in a simple white t-shirt or their man's favorite sports jersey.  The key to boudoir is to make you feel and look sexy as well as classy and elegant.  Although nudity may be involved, the photos are tasteful with he nudity being implied and not explicit.

Why would I do Boudoir?

Boudoir photography is a popular wedding day gift from the bride to the groom.  Once you have picked out the keepers, you can have them professionally bound in a mini album for your groom.

Maggie, owner and photographer of Iron and Lace Photography, has shot a plethora of boudoir shoots in the Quad Cities.  She shares her best advice:  "Leave your insecurities behind. Come into your session with full confidence that you are beautiful - flaws and all. You should feel that your session represents who you are both inside and out. And remember, sexy doesn’t necessarily mean less clothing!"

What do I wear during a boudoir photoshoot?

Boudoir fashion is more than your birthday suit or skimpy lingerie.  You should love your body and feel sexy and confident during the photoshoot.  Maggie says, "Most women think they need to go out and buy expensive lingerie when that is definitely not the case! Your best items can be found around your house.  Consider find some of the following items for your shoot so you can splurge on pampering yourself prior to the shoot including your make-up session."
