WHY DO I CARE?
Small Business Saturday was a created "holiday" by American Express in 2010. They gave shoppers a monetary incentive to spend money at small businesses on the Saturday after Black Friday. Since then, the promotion has slowly dissolved to almost nothing. Although this marketing campaign has seen it's better days, it has turned into an annual day to celebrate small businesses and the loyal customers. I'm thankful to be a part of the 28.4 million small businesses in the United States that generates over $5.5 billion in average annual spending. (source)
I agree with Gene Marks that we do not need "Small Business Saturday" to survive. (However, you could be a little more positive!) Small businesses create an experience that customers want to share with other (and we know how to hustle to be successful). Therefore, I'm thrilled to share my go to wedding-related small businesses of the Quad Cities. Thanks to YOU, my loyal customers and readers, for investing in people and businesses that you care about.
WHY DO BRIDES CARE?
Besides spending time with friends and families, Brides can knock out some great wedding planning during "Small Business Saturday."

Freakers USA was created from a great idea, a few successfully funded Kickstarters, and a less-than-successful Shark Tank episode. However, I would say they have written their own success story! Over 2,400 backers funded Freakers first Kickstarter campaign in 2011 raising over $62,000. This was just a start with almost 5,000 loyal and new supporters raising over $255,000 during a 2015 Kickstarter campaign. This helped launch their 100% American-made colorful sock line. Not only are they creating fun, interesting, and innovative products, but they are also finding their way onto the big screen in a documentary about crowdfunding revolution called Capital C.
What is a Freaker? It is a one-size-fits-all beverage insulator keeping your drinks cold and your hands dry. Not only do they have fun wedding freakers for the bride and groom, but they also have over 60 designs for great bridal party or host gifts!
Urban Farmhouse has a little bit of everything from home decor to local beauty products. Urban Farmhouse has other great bridal party gifts including:
- S'well Bottles - With their eco-friendly mission to rid the world of plastic bottles, S'well bottles are stylish, innovative and keeps drinks cold for 24 hours or hot for 12 hours.
- The Captured Harvest Soaps - Hand-crafted in small batches, this goat-milk soap purposefully blends all natural oils, botanicals and essential oils. A great find for mothers, bridesmaids, and the people who support you through your wedding journey.

Sarah Sunstrom Photography - Bridal Photography, Wedding Gifts
Sarah Sunstrom specializes in wedding photography, as well as new and growing families. If you are getting married outdoors or if "rustic" and "vintage" describe your wedding style, Sarah would be the perfect fit. She is a staple in the Quad Cities bridal industry bringing every wedding detail to life. Sarah wants to share your memories through photography and is offering a gift certificate sale that is good through Saturday. Purchase a $100 gift certificate and you will receive an additional $20 for free. This special would be a great gift for a newly married couple as a wedding gift. I would love to be gifted a post-wedding photography session with Sarah to capture my first moments with my husband as a married couple.

Dunn Bros Coffee - Gift Cards for everyone
Dunn Bros is a local favorite since 2011 that gives Starbucks a run for their money. Recently, I have a new found love for caffeinated beverages (White Choc Mochas to be exact). Dunn Bros. Coffee is my go to place for a great cup of coffee and a welcoming environment to be creative. Gina and Paula Bettini are the mother-daughter partners in Dunn Bros. Coffee, a franchise shop located in the Shops at Duck Creek, Bettendorf. The duo is excited to announce their second location opening in February 2016 on 53rd Street in the Birchwood Fields Office Park.
