In October, New York hosts Bridal Fashion Week (NYBFW) to showcase all the 2016 Fall Wedding Trends. All the elite bridal designers from Marchesa to Vera Wang gather to share their vision and future of the bridal industry.
*Side Note* I actually did get to see some designer gowns at The White Dress Bridal Boutique this year during my business travels in Orange County. I was in heaven surrounded by different shades of ivory, nude, pinks, and golds. My favorite unique designer find was a Yolan Cris bohemian style wedding dress from the "Boho Folk" collection. Draping in ornate lace and elaborate fringe, the craftsmanship had an instant recognizable sense of flower child appeal.
How does this relate to the Midwest Bride?
I wanted to not only share the top 4 wedding trends for 2016, but also share designers that you can find locally at the new premier bridal boutique, La Belle Vie Bridal. If you are interested in booking an appointment to see any of these designers in person at La Belle Vie Bridal, contact the boutique directly at (563) 888-1869 or visit their website.
Top 4 Wedding Dress Trends for 2016
1. Illusion Everything
From necklines, sleeves, and bodices the New York runway was lined with unlined, sheer garments. From tulle just sheer enough to offer a glimpse of skin underneath to illusion necklines and sleeves adorned with lace detail, there is no question brides will have the option to show off a little.
Olvi's Lace, a Dutch designer who specializes in a unique stretch French lace and forgiving lining, is a master at combining illusion and lace details. The Olvi's brand has gained an international reputation for it's fresh, innovative designs that fit and flatter the feminine form. It is said that these dresses are so comfortable, they feel like wearing your favorite pair of stretchy yoga pants. Although it does not sound very glamorous, who is opposed to that level of comfort of their wedding day? Olvi Lace wedding dresses are beautifully designed in fabrication and construction. La Belle Vie Bridal has both of these beauties (1959, 1983) from the Savanna Collection in their boutique.

2. Intricate hand-beaded bodices, shoulders, and backs
Designer after designer showed the perfect package of romance and drama with the most petite detailing.
Fall in love with Allure's fresh silhouettes, avant-garde fabrics, and innovative lace textures and patterns in their Madison James collection. The Madison James bride is modern, sophisticated, and in love with 'love'. Find this Madison James MJ10 and similar styles at La Belle Vie Bridal.

3. Non-Traditional Colors
The runway was splash with color! Wedding dress made with artistic floral accents dreamy water color prints, to multiple shades of ivory, blush, champagne and charcoal. A bride has so many options today to express her beauty. This is my favorite wedding trend and hope to see more non-traditional wedding dresses in my bridal alteration studio in 2016!
Two options for the bride that does not envision a 'white' wedding are by Paloma Blanca and Watters Wtoo. Both wedding dresses can be seen at La Belle Vie Bridal.
This strapless hand ruched ballgown dress is available in champagne, natural and ivory silk dupioni. Silk dupioni is a rich, lustrous fabric with small slubs for great texture. It is adorned with a crystal beaded belt, side pockets, and cathedral length train.

4. Off-The-Shoulder Lace Sleeves
Lace sleeves continue to be a note-worthy wedding dress staple. However in 2016 you will see them slightly off the shoulder. Think of it as a sexed up take on Kate Middleton's long sleeves from her wedding in 2011. Sleeves are a very flattering detail exuding a vintage, romantic, or feminine theme.
Olvi Style 2012 takes a dramatic approach to the 'off the shoulder' lace sleeve.

Pronovias, offered at La Belle Vie Bridal, is the world's largest bridal brand that celebrated their 50th anniversary in last year. They originated in Barcelona and know for their lace, embroidery and high-quality silk fabrics. The Tibet, which is the only dress I have shared that I am unsure is available at La Belle Vie Bridal, is a tulle and lace mermaid style dress with beige underlay. Each lace appliqué is perfectly placed on the off the shoulder neckline which would be expected from Pronovias. See all the details of The Tibet at Pronovias.com.
